Innovative Blended Learning Solution Supports Rapid Growth and Expansion for Raising Cane’s

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is an American fast-food chain founded in 1996 specializing in chicken fingers.
To build a culture of quality and success, and scale from Boston to Los Angeles, and Minneapolis to New Orleans, Raising Cane’s needed to provide a continuous learning environment to keep employees at the top of their game.
While everyone on the leadership team agreed that learning and development was a critical component of the strategy, the growth of the business had outpaced the processes in place to support training of the operations leadership roles.
Raising Cane’s needed to make a shift from training that was dependent on a single individual providing on-site mentoring, to a system that could scale rapidly across multiple locations.
Part of engaging today’s workforce is understanding how to engage employees from across generations with diverse backgrounds. All of these factors demanded a high impact, comprehensive training solution. To be successful, Raising Cane’s wanted to provide an innovative learning experience that includes:
• Just-in-time learning
• Reinforcement of company values and culture
• Personalized learning
• Progress metrics and reporting
The goal was to execute on rapid geographic expansion while remaining true to the culture, value, and core processes of the brand.
In partnership with ELB Learning, the Raising Canes’ L&D team crafted a learning and development strategy that combined the best of technology and training best practices to build a learning solution that is both nimble and robust.
While documentation was a critical component of the system, the goal was not to establish a rigid structure of “right” and “wrong” answers. Rather, the objective for the learning program was to create a scenario-based environment that reinforced the Raising Cane’s brand values in how to approach the situations that arise in day-to-day operations.
Personalized learning paths through the learning management platform were created that also included assessments. Learners are able to witness their progress as they navigate through their learning path. These paths also provided input on development opportunities to the leadership team.
The feedback loop, and personalized solution created strong engagement and ownership throughout the organization, and a spirit of continuous learning and growth mindset across a variety of functional areas.
