Innovative Compliance Training for Insurance Staff
How Travelers Insurance Deployed Agile Custom Solutions to Deliver Effective Compliance Training to Globally Dispersed Staff

Travelers Insurance is a leading global insurance provider. The company’s expertise and focus on innovation have made them a leader in personal, business and specialty insurance and the only property casualty company in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Travelers employs 30,000 staff members and 13,500 independent agents and brokers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The insurance provider needed an innovative program to deliver marketing compliance training to their team members.
As the second largest writer of commercial property insurance in the U.S., Travelers needed a program that was highly informative and effective so they could continue offering top quality services to their expansive customer base.
Additionally, the leadership team wanted robust reporting capabilities to measure participation and learning application for more than 30,000 employees. This would ensure employees were internalizing the training material and properly implementing it in their daily roles.
Travelers partnered with ELB Learning to execute an accelerated, agile approach to course and content development. Further, Project Managers collaborated closely with Travelers’ key stakeholders to understand their needs.
Since Travelers already had a functional LMS platform, the ELB Learning content developers were tasked with creating engaging, interactive content that integrated with the existing assets. The proposed solution was to deploy a blend of learning tools, including self-paced eLearning, classroom programs and job aids. This would deliver the content in an impactful and diverse manner.
To ensure the training was application-oriented, assessments were embedded within the content. Learners were encouraged to go through the assessments as they progressed with their learning. This also gave L&D managers critical metrics on the impact of the training program.
The combination of self-service tools, just-in-time learning solutions and a blended learning approach empowered Travelers to deliver a robust, efficient, and engaging training program across the organization.
